As founder and design leader of award-winning AquaTerra Outdoors, Tal Thevenot relies heavily on his mid-western upbringing and love of the outdoors that has guided his life. Growing up on the farms of Iowa with a fascination for modern design led Tal to his degree in Landscape Architecture from Kansas State and the inevitable creation of his own design-focused company. Today, Tal focuses on the joy he finds in both his work and family – both of which find him outdoors as often as possible.

Dan has loved landscapes since he started working on them at 12 years old. Dan received a degree in landscape contracting from Mississippi State University, and for him, it’s a privilege to work in nature and have the ability to produce spaces for others to better enjoy the outdoors. After being in the business for 20 years, he continues to create outstanding and unique environments for his clients. Dan’s dependability and organization enables him to produce innovative designs and have time to focus on his family.
Director of Project Management / Principal Designer
Taylor is a native of South Louisiana, where she cultivated a strong appreciation for the outdoors and the beauty of the natural world. Her creative vision and attention to detail pushed her to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from Louisiana Tech University. Taylor is very passionate about the work that she does, which can be seen in every design she creates. She listens to the needs of her clients and then crafts a beautiful design that is tailored to fit not only their needs but the vision that they have for their outdoor space. When not at the office, Taylor enjoys cooking, spending time with her family, and watching any LSU sport. Geaux Tigers!
Lead Designer & Project Manager
Jaclyn is our newest Project Manager at AquaTerra Outdoors. Growing up in Friendswood, Texas, she cherished backyard moments with her family, igniting her passion for outdoor design. With boundless enthusiasm and a drive to bring dreams to fruition, Jaclyn thrives on turning clients‘ visions into reality. An outgoing, goal-driven individual, Jaclyn’s heart is as big as her love for family, friends, and her faith!
Project Manager
Travis grew up with a passion for architecture, technical drawing, 3D visualization and presentation graphics. Travis has a computer art degree and over the past 14 years he has led production teams for several design and architectural firms. Travis Cisneros has worked on residences, civic buildings, colleges and large-scale developments and brings his extensive leadership experience to AquaTerra, making all our ideas come to life.
Design Director
Growing up in Indiana, Kylee got an early taste for landscape design through her family’s ever-evolving yard of flowers, which taught her the joy (and hard-work) of creating a unique outdoors for family enjoyment. Kylee ran with her love of the outdoors to receive a degree in Landscape Architecture from West Virginia University before following her dreams of moving to Texas. Her memories of her own backyard beauty and fun are never far away as she shares her passion for the outdoors with our clients.
Senior Designer
Sameepa has an inter-disciplinary background in Architecture and Landscape Architecture. Through the love of nature Sameepa loves exploring the inter-connectivity and harmony between enclosed spaces, outdoor spaces and its users. Her attention to detail, leads her in creating a unique outdoor experience for all the clients. She can often be found outdoors walking and exploring with her family. She also loves to travel and try her hands at various arts and crafts.
Senior Designer
Paola holds a degree in Interior Architecture and completed a master’s program in Urban and Habitat Furniture Design at a university in Barcelona, Spain. She possesses specialized expertise in 3D visualization and rendering and enjoys applying her knowledge to create innovative outdoor designs. With a strong passion for creativity, Paola thrives on taking on unique projects that allow her to push the boundaries of her field!
Designer
Originally from the beautiful Boulder, Colorado, Hali graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in environment design with an emphasis in landscape architecture. Her desire to be in the field was sparked by her love of nature and specifically the High Line in New York. Hali’s known for her artistic, organized, and punctual nature. In her free time, she finds joy in playing pickleball, exploring Dallas with friends, and crafting like painting, pottery, or stained glass!

David Stout, a Texas native, is our self-motivated and detail-oriented construction manager with a passion for construction and a love for the outdoors which led him to pursue a career in this field. David finds joy in the diversity of projects, relishing their unique challenges and the satisfaction of delivering a final product that delights clients. Outside of work, he prioritizes spending quality time with his family and indulging in outdoor activities such as camping and fishing. David embodies a strong work ethic, a love for nature, and a dedication to his craft.
Construction Manager
North Texas-native, David has a landscape architecture degree from Texas Tech. Prior to joining AquaTerra, David built houses, spent time in commercial construction and landscape construction. In his free time, he enjoys hunting and fishing.
Superintendent
J.T. Crockett, an AquaTerra Outdoors Superintendent, is fueled by a passion for crafting family havens in their backyards. Inspired by the joy of enabling memorable gatherings, he finds fulfillment in transforming ideas into magnificent projects! Professionally, J.T. is determined and a team player, always seeking ways to advance in his role. Personally, his joy lies in cheering on his son’s baseball victories at Wylie fields, cherishing those dinger-filled moments!
Superintendent
Brian, a hard-working and passionate individual from Fresno, CA, is a third-generation outdoor pool construction expert. Raised in the industry, he finds joy in bringing customers’ visions to life, prioritizing excellent communication and service. Brian holds certifications in hydraulics, paver installation, and is an SGM certified installer. Outside work, he enjoys BBQing, fishing, hunting, and quality time with his family.

Originally from Mobile, AL, Hunter Marler moved to Sachse, TX, during his teenage years. With five years of experience in the pool industry, Hunter has found his niche working outdoors, interacting with customers, and solving pool-related issues. Family-oriented, outgoing, and active, Hunter enjoys spending time with his two young kids, Rocky and August, and watching sports with friends and family. He’s a big fan of basketball and dreams of meeting Dirk Nowitzki one day.

From Bailey, TX, Ty Slaughter studied Agricultural Systems Management at Texas A&M University. Gig ’Em! Passionate about the outdoors, Ty loves turning ideas into reality and enjoys seeing completed projects for our clients. Known for his outgoing and enthusiastic nature, Ty spends his free time hunting and fishing with his wife and kids.

Jose’s passion for gardening naturally led him to pursue a career in landscaping. Known for his efficiency, he takes pride in working with a company that fosters growth and development. Outside of work, Jose enjoys playing soccer with his children, sharing his love for the game with his family.

With 20+ years of experience, Emily’s zest for keeping the team organized and creating inventive ways to keep them engaged, she certainly knows how to keep our office running with excellence and ease. Outside of work, she enjoys her passion in photography, traveling and going on adventures with her trusted Labrador retriever in tow.

Madi Moore, a San Antonio native now residing in Denton, TX, is a proud graduate of Texas Woman’s University with a business degree and an MBA in Human Resources Management. Madi loves staying busy and learning new things while working with her amazing teammates. Outside of work, she enjoys crafting, reading, traveling, hiking with her dog Clover, and spending time with friends and family.

Melissa Cardenas is AquaTerra’s Accounting Assistant, bringing over five years of administrative experience in the landscape industry. Currently pursuing her Bachelor’s in Accounting at WGU online, she’s passionate about numbers and eager to advance her career in finance. Melissa values family time with her husband and two young sons, often enjoying outdoor adventures. Known for her friendly, optimistic personality, Melissa loves contributing to AquaTerra’s financial team while staying connected to the outdoors industry.

Malia has been passionate about marketing and dedicated to the field from the start. Born in Danville, Illinois, but raised in Abilene, Texas, she earned her degree in Strategic Communication from Hardin-Simmons University. Since graduating, Malia has brought a unique blend of creativity and strategy to her work, influenced by the 3 C’s that guide her life: Creativity, Community, and Commitment. Her tenacity and determination to see any project through has earned her a reputation for excellence.
